It was artificially introduced by the Soviet Union in the 1960s and they are very large: specimens have been found with a carapace width of more than 28 cm and 1.8-meter legs.

However, there is a notable difference between the meat from the legs and the meat obtained from the inside of the shell. It all depends on the utility that we want to give the product. While the legs have a deeper flavor, keep their original shape intact and are used for more expensive and delicate preparations, the meat of the king crab shell is crumbled, although it also has a powerful flavor and is more used with fillings or accompaniment
