Why buy Ukan 2018?

Because UKAN is a new project in Rioja Alavesa led by members of the younger generation of the Eguren family.

Koldo Eguren, fifth generation of the family, leads the project with the enological collaboration of his cousin Eduardo. Together they seek to send the landscape of Rioja Alavesa into a wine using what was learned from previous generations and incorporating the young and contemporary vision that Koldo and Eduardo have acquired in their respective professional careers.

It is a small winery that follows the Bordeaux model, focused on making great wine that is produced in limited quantities.

The basis of the project is in the vineyard and agriculture. For this, they have selected a collection of old Tempranillo vineyards that represent the diversity of Rioja Alavesa. The vineyards are harvested by hand in small boxes and the grapes are also selected by hand at their entrance to the winery. The production process, completely handmade, is carried out in the modern Californian-style winery that they have set up in Laguardia.

At the end of 2020, the first vintage with UKAN 2018 wine is presented, an elegant and balanced wine that shows the potential of a winery that was born to last.
