Jijona nougat and Alicante nougat


The Regulatory Council of Jijona and nougat of Alicante is responsible for ensuring that all nougat belonging to this Protected Geographical Indication comply with each of the requirements. Both nougat, both Jijona nougat and Alicante nougat, are made with ground almonds and honey. The only difference between them is that Jijona nougat carries less proportion of this nut than honey. This feature gives Jijona nougat a much softer texture than Alicante nougat. Nougat de Jijona and turrón de Alicante are the best valued Spanish nougat, becoming the Christmas treat par excellence.
